Frequently Asked Questions
How are calories burned calculated?
This calculator uses MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values. Calories = MET × weight (kg) × time (hours). MET values are standardised measurements of exercise intensity relative to resting metabolic rate.
Does weight affect calorie burn?
Yes — heavier people burn more calories doing the same activity. A 90kg person burns about 50% more calories than a 60kg person doing the same exercise for the same duration. This is why weight-based calculations are more accurate.
What exercise burns the most calories?
Per hour at 70kg: Jump rope ~840 cal, Running ~700 cal, HIIT ~630 cal, Swimming ~560 cal, Cycling ~525 cal, Walking ~245 cal. High-intensity activities burn more in less time, but lower intensity can be sustained longer.
